ABOUT SAM

Sam has his roots in the equine world - riding in his first horse show at 8 years of age.  As a youngster Sam rode western pleasure horses in pleasure and games.  Over the years, in addition to running the family business, Sam's father bought and sold prospective western riding horses and Sam often accompanied his father to these local sales.  As he grew, Sam did a lot of training for his father as well.  After graduation, Sam did active duty in Vietnam, where his enthusiasm for training horses never diminished.  When Sam returned home he spent the next several years on the rodeo circuit calf roping and bull-dogging.  Due to work related job transfers, Sam found himself in the " Hills of Tennessee" where he developed his passion for training and presenting the gaited horse.

ABOUT CARRIE

Carrie grew up in the twin cities but spent a lot of time riding horses at her uncle's farm in northern Minnesota.  In the 80's she road quarter horses for pleasure until the arrival of her first son, Darren.  Later, the family acquired Morgan horses and began to develop an interest in driving.  They were active members of the St. Croix Horse and Carriage Society.  Carrie bought her first small equine in 1985 - a small 10 year old registered shetland mare named "Oakwood Cabrit" - affectionately called "Tinker".  Tinker was shown in halter and driving in the shetland and open shows and lived to be well over 30 years of age.  Due for the most part to her obsession with Tinker,  Carrie's interest in small equine escalated.   She spent years of traveling across the nation to acquire some of the nation's most sought after bloodlines and spending countless hours researching pedigrees.  Continual monitoring of her breeding stock - and adjusting as necessary - was essential with the fast evolution and progression of the breed/s.  Today her horses remain successful in both the halter and performance divisions of the industry and are top recipients of All Star Awards and National Titles.
